Operators' understanding of job site hazards and equipment condition are crucial to construction safety and job efficiency. Prolec designs the safety systems that protect operators and equipment by providing easy access to contextual information and intuitive machine controls.

Prolec's design team for their safety controllers began using TapNLink modules when they wanted to try their new user interface as a mobile app. They chose 2 ubiquitous smartphone technologies:

• NFC for its secure, intuitive tap-to-connect ease-of-use when pairing the mobile and controller,
• Bluetooth Low Energy for a secure, continuous data connection between mobile and controller.

With TapNLink they added NFC and Bluetooth to their electronic design with little effort and coding - the IoTize module just grafts onto the existing electronics and integrates with a simple configuration. Then with IoTize App Creator, they created their first app to test their concept in just a few days. Even with the addition of a new graphical component for positioning the equipment, their UI was ready to go for a trade show and their first customer demos.

Prolec are now field-testing their app which allows users to control machine position, monitor performance, and retrieve and update job and maintenance data directly on a smartphone.
