Aquameter clips onto mechanical water meters for instant telemetry retrofit. Using an image sensor and LPWAN technology at a configurable interval, Aquameter photographs the meter's display, extracts data, and transmits the data to a remote supervisor and billing application. Aquameter is a universal solution that adapts easily to any meter.
It includes an NFC interface that allows a nearby mobile phone to configure it, read the meter status and take manual readings – all without consuming any energy. Its lithium battery ensures a service life of up to 20 years.

How Aquameter OCR Works

Camera – Aquameter's camera captures a photo of the meter display, with built-in LED lighting to ensure dial rendering that is adequate for data extraction. The frequency of captures is configurable.

Recognition – An energy-efficient Optical Character Recognition (OCR) algorithm recognizes the digits in the photo and transforms these to a digital value. OCR success rate is 100%.

Transmission – This data is sent immediately via LPWAN (LoRaWAN, LTE-M). Aquameter can be configured to manage certificates, data and messaging format for any private or public cloud platform you choose.

Near Field Communication – On-site, users can connect to Aquameter using a dedicated smartphone app to configure and test the device and then report the installation, its paramters and location to the supervisory platform.
